Morning Calm Jogakbo Print Fabric draws inspiration from the traditional Korean patchwork art known as jogakbo. This craft involves sewing small pieces of leftover fabric, often silk or cotton, into larger, beautifully patterned cloths. Jogakbo originated from bojagi, Korean wrapping cloths used for practical purposes like covering and carrying items or wrapping gifts. Over time, jogakbo evolved into an artistic expression, celebrated for its vibrant color combinations, intricate geometric designs, and cultural significance.
Our Jogakbo fabric is designed to capture the beauty of traditional jogakbo in an accessible and affordable way that everyone can enjoy. This pattern was created by local folk artist Anna M. Jo, and we printed it on our linen-rayon fabric, which has a soft touch and beautiful drape. Each color scheme is inspired by themes commonly found in traditional minhwa (Korean folk art): Ocean Blue, Spring Flower Pink, Lotus Pond Green, and Dragon Red.
