A jar skirt, or “항아리치마/hangari skirt (pronounced hang-ah-ri), is a Korean style skirt, also known outside of Korea as a lantern skirt. In Korea, it is commonly used in informal hanbok known as gaeryang hanbok (개량한복), which can be worn comfortably in everyday life. The most prominent feature of the jar skirt is the fact that it has a jar shape to it, extending out from the top and tapering in at the bottom.
This skirt is designed to be sewn by all levels, from confident beginner to expert. The skirt features a flat front and elastic back waistband, slash pockets at the waist and a tapered lower skirt.
